We are out for a week on the ocean aboard the Migmawei Amstel, chasing shrimp with new captain Preston Paul of Gesgapegiag, Quebec. With shrimp stocks falling, fuel prices rising, and some inexperienced crew members trying to learn the trade from Preston, the pressure is on to find the shrimp and catch enough to turn a profit. A sudden storm and huge swells challenge the crew, but some friendly competition on the boat—not to mention some healthy one-upmanship in the kitchen—keep the spirits high and everyone safe and well-fed.
