  • Mi'gmaq territory covers seven districts, in Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI: Kespukwitk, Sipekne'katik, Eskikewa'kik, Unama'kik, Epekwitk aq Piktuk, Siknikt, and Gepse'gewa'gi

  • Listuguj is one of three communities in Gespe'gewa'gi, the 7th district of the Mi'gmaq, and is located on the Restigouche river, across from Campbellton, New Brunswick

  • Gesgapegiag is one of three Mi'gmaq communities in Gespe'gewa'gi, and is located about an hour East of Listuguj, on the Baie des Chaleurs 

  • Sipekne'katik is a Mi'kmaq community located in central Nova Scotia, about one hour North of Halifax, and one and a half hours Southwest of Pictou Landing First Nation.

  • Pictou Landing First Nation is a Mi'kmaq community located in North-Central Nova Scotia, near New Glasgow. 

Ports and fishing areas

  • Located 80 kilometers from Listuguj, the Kedgwick Lodge has employed Mi'gmaq guides for many generations.

  • Marking the boundary between Quebec and New Brunswick, the Restigouche River borders Listuguj, and is where Mi'gmaq have fished for salmon for thousands of years.

  • Carleton-sur-Mer is the port from which rock crab and lobster fishers depart, and set their traps in nearby waters. Carleton-sur-Mer was also the meeting point for Listuguj lobster fishers and Gesgapegiag processing plant workers during the 2019 Fall lobster season.

  • Ste. Therese de Gaspe is the port from which a fleet of Listuguj fishers begin their long (sometimes 2-day) journeys in search of snow crab.

  • A half day's drive from Listuguj, Fox River, or Rivière-au-Renard, is where shrimp vessels are docked,and where Listuguj fishers beginning their week-long journeys toward Anticosti island in the Gulf of St Lawrence

  • Located about an hour from Gesgapegiag, the Nignag training vessel - and Salaweg's kelp lines - are both located at the Paspebiac docks.

  • Each summer, Pictou Landing First Nation fishers head to Cheticamp for the start of Snow Crab season.

  • Sipekne'katik fishers make the long 3-hour drive to Saulnierville - one of the most populous lobster fishing spots in the Maritimes
